Nightlightning sets the world ablaze!

Okay, maybe thats a slight embellishment with the current dry situation were are all experiencing in South Eastern Australia, but you certainly get the gist...!! Nightlightning has recently stepped up its support of the Felt Racing program, and they were certainly rewarded with a win overall straight out of the bag, and whilst the fastest lap results aren't posted quite yet, I have a feeling that you are going to see a lot of fast night laps and in actual fact I think that its either myself, John or Jason that have the fastest ones. So, that in itself is enough to prove that Nightlighting are certainly a major factor in a riders' performance.

But enough talking ourselves up, although someone has to... Back to the race, and the lights themselves! The latest generation LED's have been fitted up to a few sets of Blaast's just last week in New Zealand, and arrived just in time to get their first run around at the Werribee 12 hour. It was also the initial fit up of the system to my helmet, and wow, what an easy secure system it is!! I'm impressed!! After initially being a touch cynical about the adhesion of Velcro, although it has served the others well for months, I am now converted. I have a penchant for quality equipment, having well done my time on junk for many years, and I can say that these Nightlightning lights are in a league that exceeds their price tag! The quality of the built, the cooling fins, the battery and leads, the Velcro, and the overall finish are excellent, and thats before you even turn them on.

So fitting them to a helment was as simple as adhering a couple of bits of adhesive velcro to the correct position on my helmet and then pressing on the actual light. The velcro, whilst I harp on it, isn't normal hook and loop velcro - its a plastic variation that's interlocking. Its a little hard to picture, but its phenomenal! So that would be it. Once the male bit is stuck to the helmet, with an optional mount to cater for different vent variations, the light goes on, cables, switch and battery in the pocket and away!!! Thats all.

The light is mounted centrally on the lid so there is no pull to the front like another brand, and there isn't any wobble or looseness in the mount, so its all good in that department. And out the door we rolled, my light and I! Out on course, the light is great, quite focussed on exactly where you want it, but still with enough spread to either side for peripheral vision. And the light is quite white still, not that ice blue of HID, but very white! There is nothing worse than yellow light, and these LED's smoke it!! And so with a few laps in the bag, the lights became part of my riding - when you don't even realize that you are riding in the dark, your times stay fast, and you feel awesome, just like on the weekend!!

So two thumbs up for the new Lightlightning Blaast's - an awesome setup to be sure, and constantly offering improvements to show that they are a genuine manufacturer. Not content to rest on their laurels, they are constantly refining and developing their product to make it the best it can be for you! Jack enjoyed the luxury of having a bar mount and helmet mount for his laps, and he came back killing himself laughing as there was just SO much light. So I guess 2 is better than one :)

Felt Racing, whilst we only have a moral obligation to endorse products, is happy to recommend these lights to anyone. They are a quality light set for an affordable price, and with a program of constant evolution, you can be assured of getting the latest, greatest and brightest.

This weekend sees Jack and Ash heading north to escape the cold, to Mildura for a 3 hour race for something a little different. So check back for the full road trip story - with a 7 hour drive each way, there should be something to write about!! ;)

And Paulie updated, so go and see what he had to say!!
