Then There was Light!
It's been a while since I've gone out for a Mountain Bike ride in the black of night. I suppose in the past I've really never enjoyed it that much, I couldn't really put my finger on the reason why? So I would blame it on my less then adequate eye site.
When I got my new Nightlightning Blaast I was excited because it really had been a while since I strapped on the lights and hit the tracks, but at the same time I was nervous that I still wouldn't enjoy the ride.
After my ride Wednesday might I can safely say, that my lack of enthusiasm towards night riding was NOT due to my poor eye site, but due to the low quality lights I have used in the past, lights that can be compared to candles, lights that said there burn time was 3 hours but would end up lasting 50 minutes!
When the sun went down at 6:30pm Wednesday night and my Nightlightning Blaast went on, the brightness and quality of light I was being given was enormous compared to any light I had used before, it was like daylight savings had come back early and just for me. I still haven't adapted completely to riding at night, at speed, but I know I'm going to stick at it because my lights are AWESOME!
Word of wisdom from the wise; When buying lights for night riding, don't settle for second best, there's know way you'll enjoy yourself and stick at night riding if you don't get a good pair of lights. In the end your going to save money by going straight to the top.
I'm ecstatic with my Blaast's and for the first winter ever, I think I'll be hitting the tracks in Darkness a lot more often.
Cheers ScottyL
Eagerly awaiting the sun to go down.
