GVRace Tech to the rescue

Last night saw another long night in the workshop tuning up bikes, this time my Felt RXC Pro and Jasons RXC Team were in hospital getting sorted in readiness for the Scott 24hour next weekend in Canberra. A couple of long term problems were revealed last night, all stemming from the mudbath that was the Officer 8 hour a few months ago. Things like doomed bearings were given a new lease on life with the new wonderspray and we tore into things like DT 240 hubs to get some real world idea on how they last. And boy are they in top nick! Likewise the CrossMax SL wheels on the RXC Team bikes, also in great condition!

Some other things that people may be interested in us doing to the bikes includes a full cable and housing refit of all the bikes for that brilliant new bike feeling, cleaning and lubing the derailleurs and generally going over the bikes checking that bolts are torqued correctly, and everything is clean and crisp. With a good amount of time and patience, the bikes come up feeling as fresh as when they left the box.

In terms of the riders, most of us have put the final touches on the legs and put them in a box marked 'do not open before 7/10/06'- we pick up all the gear we need early in the week, and away we go to Canberra...!!

As an exciting first for Australian 24hour racing, there is a chance that there could be a live series of updates on the blog over the course of the race as well, we'll see how that turns out! But regardless, check back during the week for more info on that, as that could be pretty cool for the people who don't make it up to the race!
