Teams, bikes, training, does it ever end?
And so as promised, we get back to regular broadcasting. However with such a sunny day outside I hope that none of you read this until much later! With the Mont just around the corner, and as I've mentioned, we're at maximum attack at the moment. Bikes are either in hospital getting a checkup, or have been recently released with a new least on life and one bike has even picked up the latest in bearing technology, Ceramic. And on a side note, its apparently well worth the cash outlay, as seeing as it was paid for in cold hard cash out of our own pockets, you can consider that an unbiased opinion. I won't tell you who the rider is, it'll give the opposition something to think about as they slog up the next big climb!.
So on the bikes, new 'Max' bearings have be thrown at the bikes for the super plush feel, and they allow the suspension full and complete range of unhindered motion. With a fork rebuild for me after a bit of a mischief with the rebound during the final 3 minutes of the 3 hour at Mildura, they'll be dialed in perfectly for the weekend, as will the rest of the boys. And so that will pretty much put paid to the bikes, some fresh rubber should round out the package and with our Nightlightning lights ready to rock we'll be heading certainly in the right direction.
With the bikes sorted, its been a tumultuous last week, with the team having a few hiccups along the way. So with a fair amount of disappointment, we sadly inform our supporters that Paul Van has elected not to race the Mont 24 hour, as his final year at school has finally caught up with him after a stint overseas and a whole lot of training. So whilst we wish Paul all the best with his studies over the next few weeks, we welcome Mark McDougall to the Felt Racing team. Mark rode for many years under the same distributor that we currently ride with, and was a year ahead of me as we went through the junior ranks. Sadly whilst googleing his name to get some more info for you guys, all I can get is results, and they aren't the most riveting reading, so I'll persevere. Anyway, the team is complete once again, minor headaches aside! And so with the team back to complete, we ride headlong back into training.
Today was anther decent hit out in the Dandenongs with Jason, John C and AJ, and there was no favors handed out. Everyone had a turn being the hammer, and being the nail, and 4 hours later we all rolled to our respective houses for a feed! Its always fun hammering down Mountain Highway, using the 'ol NASCAR tactics to roll turns down the hill, and this time I wasn't dropped - yay! So it was a good little hitout, with a good number of hills thrown in at a reasonable pace, and with that in mind, we line up again tomorrow for the Glenvale Crit again. And with my camera proving to be unreasonable with surrendering the photos for the day, I'll have to leave this post blank once again.. Sorry, and I'll try to fix it shortly! We should have some from tommorrow tho, we shall see! :)
