When did you last....

When did you last get down and dirty with your bearings?? I've pulled down my RXC Pro after the Officer round and I'm still finding things that are seized from the conditions there. Last night I found that drive side BB cup was seized solid with mud and rust, so with a bit of dissasembly and a lot of solvet, it now continues to provide service. A suitable upgrade will come in the form of an Enduro set of bearings, or perhaps the offering from Phil Wood. Either way, something must be done in the future, and an upgrade away from the generic shimano bearings seems imminent.

Also, when did you last pull your pedals apart. A slick trick is to pull the axle assembly out of the body, fill the pedal body with freash grease and as you tighten the pedal back together, the fresh grease is pumped throughout the pedal! Its a bit messy, but easier than the 48 tiny ball bearings playing chasey accross the floor! This was the state of mine, not so healthy!

Tonight down at Westgate sees a team (composition decided by the race organisers, not us) handicap come into play, and I've got the secret weapon, so look out for the full story tomorrow!! Usually handicaps are designed to let the middle to lower riders win overall, but this time, we may just bea able to sneak one in. But mum's the word- check tommorrow to see if it all panned out like I hoped!!
