2007 Felt Racing Team dinner
A busy weekend for the team this weekend, riding plenty, cleaning a bit, and team dinner to celebrate last years' success, and to bring in a new season. The venue for the dinner was a Teppanyaki restaurant where they turn the meal into a show making it hilarious and entertaining. With the exception of Gerald who unfortunately couldn't make it, the entire team was there with partners and parents, so we had a great night. Some of us may have 'enjoyed' it more than others, and lived to regret Sunday... But its a once a year occasion, and was a great night!
Check out that belt buckle!!
Sunday also turned out to be a cracker of a day also, with Jack and Jason heading out to the Dandenongs whilst Ash trucked out to Mt Disappointment to pre-ride the 90km marathon course with Rohin and the specialized boys. The race is planned for mid march, and should be a great race. The write up of the day is over on Ash's blog so click and whip over there.
Most importantly however is the performance of the new Virtue 1 with the Equilink. Whilst I've been a little tentative with the new beast thus far, today was an occasion to stretch its legs in the bush, with all the bush's inherent challenges. The course contained awesome rocky descents, hell climbs that seemed to run forever in granny gear (I didn't even know I had one, till today....!) and everything in between. The Virtue killed it all, with 140/130mm travel, it ate up anything flat our downhill, and charged up the climbs softening all the rocks and sticks that leapt into its way! Climbing was the most surprising, it really didn't give anything away to have that much travel, so very happy there. And descending was just silly. It basically flattened the track allowing you to travel way faster than I've ever been before, and I loved it! With no incidents, other than a flat, I can say it performed flawlessly, never missing a shift or a compression, so big thumbs up. There is a few pics of the suspension workings below, for your information.
