The 2007 Season begins!
Welcome to 2007 and to the news that Felt Racing is again in full effect!! After a 4 week rest, so big decisions have been made, girlfriends and wives have given the thumbs up for another year of dusty and muddy weekends with tired and sore partners, and Jason Jackson, Jack Lamshed and Paul VanDerPloeg have all waved their gloves to the afirmative and will be saddling up for another season aboard the train that is Felt Racing.
As things slowly take shape for the season, there are already some of the brand new Felt full suspension bikes getting around under team members, and I can personally say that they are exceptional. In fact, I spoke to Paul today and sheepishly admitted that I was hooting and hollering at every downhill during my first ride, and he responded that he had been doing the exact same thing, so we know that they are a bunch of fun! That fun factor was also witnessed first hand when Jack came back from a test ride at Westgate park racing last week and was practically foaming at the mouth as he told us what the new bike could do, and how much faster and smoother it could do it!! So that would be another vote for the affirmative!
Last weekend was also the Mt Beauty round of the State XC Series, and at his home event, Paul pulled out an exceptional ride. From the reports that I have heard today, Paul has started 1min30 behind the elite riders with the rest of the U/19 racers, and by the end of the first lap he had passed all the elite men and took off up the road dragging Spink (Giant). They lapped away before Paul again turned up the screws and dropped Murray to finish ahead of all of them, although the elite completed one more lap than the U/19. This is what Joel Read (Specialized MTB team) had to say
"As for the weekend at mt beauty, just wild. An awesome fun track, the track had no real dynamic to it, just up and then down. All the pro boys are flying at the moment so it makes Paulies effort the best I’ve ever seen in aus mountain biking. Should have seen him pass us on the climb…and the downhill. Just awesome, so impressed, love it!"
At any rate, it sounds like an awesome effort, congratulations Paul!! Whilst we are on the subject of Paul, not only does he have a team bike for sale, he has also started a blog, so get one there at Paulvanracingfeltbikes
So finally, we are all getting back out on the bike to get our legs going around once again, so watch out for us, come over and say g'day whereever you see us, and feel free to check out the latest bikes from Felt, the Virtue series!! With the first event that some of us will be attending will be the Otways race in a few weeks, so we'll see you there! and post some comments for him. If you are interested in a large size ex team bike, also email or comment on his blog!
