Dirt Crits, Old Skool Style
Well almost. For a special treat the track was run in an older, more fun layout for this week.
Once again Ash and Jack braved another cold (soon to be colder) Thursday night in Westgate park for the weekly FGP dirt crits. A practice lap reveled a few small puddles, but mostly a nice and gripy track which included some sections of single track which have been left of of recent races. A welcome inclusion.

Ash had to do a bit of trimming to the note pad on his handle bars he calls a number plate to get to a suitable number, this pruning resulted in a fair sized cut to one of his fingers. It was almost time to ask "Is there a doctor in the house?", but he was able to patch himself up and wipe away the tears. So after standing around in the cold for just enough time to get some nice goose bumps happening it was time for the race to start. Ash and I had two quite different races, I got a great start and headed into the single track first where I was able to get a small gap on the field. Ash on the other hand had a less desirable start to his race and was left in an unusual position mid pack, dealing with some smart comments while trying to chase back onto the front, something I tried to make harder for him. By the end of the first lap I had Matt and Ash, who had ridden like a mad man to make it back, on my wheel. My brain and legs seemed to be talking to each other this week as I was able to ride smoothly and push hard at the same time. This allowed me to get a good gap on the other two. Matt and Ash were both still feeling the affects of last weekends CTS race so weren't able to chase back on. So away I went, keeping the pace high and having a ball doing so, the piranha tires seemed to be a perfect match for the track conditions and I was able to hold lots of speed in the corners and take the win on the night with some time up my sleeve. Matt and Ash rolled around for the rest of the race working there way through the traffic until the last lap where Ash was able to get in front and take out second place.
Next weekend Felt Racing will be at the Dirt Riders Rock Hop 6 hour enduro at Upper Beaconsfield which, if it's anything like last year, will be another cracking event. See you all out there.
