To start with, we found this on the trail out to Lysterfield... Enlarge the pic and have a read. Fair point really...

Back to it tho, we bring you Lysterfield and a lap of the Chase The Sun series course! Today Jack and I rode out from my place to the course to meet Jason and Nat for a lap of the upcoming Anaconda Chase the Sun course. And here is what we found!

Its long. Long like in the vicinity of 22km per lap, but its an enduro and thats what its about.

Its going to be rough come the end of an 8 hour race. Long singletrack straights to 90deg. corners = braking bumps. Add big travel trail bikes and large discs, and she's going to be rough come the end!

Whilst I was ruing not having ridden my Virtue (riding a Felt FR1000 hardtail for a change), as was Jack, we gained an understanding how much the Virtue and its equilink actually helps at that place! Categorically, a Virtue is a better choice of bike there! Cornering is amazing, braking bumps disappear, climbing is a treat, log hops are no longer a chore, and railing through the groomed single track is one of life's pleasures! We know this as we all chased Jason around, watching his bike eat up the trail, as our eyeballs did their best to part company with our skulls! Likewise the tires, Jack seemed to struggle a smidgen with the sweeping corners, getting controlled drift aboard his Pythons (or maybe thats a style?), whilst Jason and I enjoyed the Piranhas commenting to each other that they were the perfect tire choice.

The sections that we'll be using in the course are wicked, and they all link together really well. The race is going to feel long, with the long laps, but with all the fun sections out there, I'm sure it will go by really fast! Just don't be trying to have a social ride on Easter Sunday- What trails would still be open?!

Anyway, with my helmet firmly strapped on this time, I'll leave you consider your entry for the Chase the Sun races- Even if you just do one race out of the 4, get amongst it. For $60 you get a great day out at a local, purpose built facility, with awesome trails and its close enough to at least get your friends and family out for a look! I don't care to plug FGP events, they have their own site and budget to tell you about things, but we always want great events close to home- this is it!!

And Jack beat me to the bottle photo, but we love 'em so here's another!
