Mt Beauty 6hr

Felt Racing 2 (Felt City) has stormed to a comprehensive and thorough victory over the field, and most importantly, Felt Racing 1 (Felt Country) at the weekends 6hr Mt Beauty Enduro. It was nip and tuck for the first 6 laps with the lead continually swapping until Jack Lamshed and Scott Liston were finally able to rid themselves of duo of Mark McDougall and the pesky and 'yappy' Paul Van der Ploeg.
It was the 'friendly' talk between the 2 teams which provided the impetus for FR2 to give their all in an effort to quiet the lanky Pauly. Up until the 5hr mark, with a 7minute deficit, Paul was still talking like a winner and musing that he would leave tyre treads on FR2's face's as he passed them. Fortunately for Scott and Jack's facial features the passing manoeuvre never occurred and they claimed an excellent victory with FR1 coming home 2nd. In Paul's defence, he did ride the 2 fastest laps of the day and all 7 of his laps feature in the top 20 laps of the day. He should give the world a bit of a fright in his first go as an international U/23 at the upcoming World Cups and World Championships.

The course itself was a thing of Beauty. No hellish climbs and no death defying descents to scare off the less skilled, yet at the same time, the track rewarded the brave and strong of heart with some amazing single track and fast, wickedly tantalising descents. For this the organisers should be congratulated. The event went off without a hitch and for most, the 6hrs passed very quickly.

So fire up for the upcoming Beechworth Round. Its next month and the course is, as per usual, excellent.

Check back here for Jack's report (I assume he is doing one) and hopefully some photos. One thing I can promise is, we will post some video footage of Snake Valley and transition later this week.

No death defying descents? Pft! More than one person got cheese gratered, and it took two people 3 minutes to get one guy out of a blackberry bush so far into it he went.
It was only in the closing laps that I could ride down those not-quite-berms coming down the hill (and by that point I was too worn out to not screw them up), though still didn't make the staircase like rock garden once, nor the second steep cheesegrater descent.

I think the two above commenter's need to get back in touch with mountain bike riding. If an 8 year old girl is riding the track, then how hard could it be? Please don't darken the felt blog with your negativity.
