Short and Fast

(No, not Jason)

This week end Jack and Jason made the trek out to Upper Beconsfield to try out the shorter version of the sport at the 4th round of the Vic state XC series. It had been a long time since our last XC race and we both made the step up to Elite for the first time which was sure to make it a hard race. The weather turned out to be great racing weather and the track was also great, with the inclusion of new sections of single track the Rock Hop 6 hour later in the year should be a good one.

We all lined up at the start with four strange guys dressed in pink where the previously promised trash talking kept us all amused while we waited for the race to start. Then someone said the magic "G" word and we were away! Coming through the start/finish area after the first lap was odd, there was no one to change over with, so around we went again. The course was great fun with some really good single track and a couple of tough climbs chucked in just for fun. Jason finished off with a top 10 finish with me a bit further back, not too bad for out first race with the big boys so early in our season.

The Virtue was awesome on the fast descents and the piranhas were really suited to the track. I seem to have more fun each time I ride this bike on a new track, so bring on the next new track. Check out the photos of the race from the Dirt Riders site. Also thanks to Sleeman for his CO2 cartridges and Jill for feeding us both (on the left! Yay).

See you all at the next race.

I couldn't very well not feed you from the left, given you even had a chair for me! future feeding of course rests on you admitting that your bike has pink parts...
