Winter Training
With no races on the week end, and a few weeks until the next it was time to get out and get some training done over the long week end. Sunday was a trip out to King Lake with dirt crit regular Rhys and Englishman Tim. Both are training for some silly around the bay in a day thing so they needed to do some training too. After a chilly start the weather was fantastic, clear skies and a light wind made for some good riding.
We headed up through Whittlesea and up the hill via a nice little back road climb to get us to the top, then across to King Lake.
At King Lake we pointed ourselves down the hill for a very enjoyable blast to the bottom and the home again to round out a good morning on the bike.
Monday was a different story, I woke to the sound of rain and cars driving on a very wet road. Getting ready for a ride is always harder when it's raining but the bom radar was telling me that it was soon to be past. So out I headed in the last of the rain to meet up with Matt L and Mr Pink, aka, Rohin Adams.
Meeting under the eaves of a supermarket to stay out of the wind and rain we decided to scrap our initial plan to head out to Yarra Glen as we would probably keep up with the rain and get very wet. Instead Rohin took up through the backstreets to Eltham and all the way out to Kangaroo Ground.
There were plenty of good hills thrown in, some of which required a bit of concentration in the wet just to maintain rear wheel traction! Matt and Rohin were feeling the ride from the day before where they chased Joel Reid and the Brick Man around the 'nongs all morning, but with a bit of convincing we headed north again for one last loop and then home to defrost and dry out. Not a bad ride for a wet and wintry morning, the rain stopped after about half an hour and we even saw some blue sky by the end of it.
Excuse Rohins manners, I think he left them at home with my warm socks.
