The Gut Full Recap
Felt had a strong showing at The Gut Full marathon on Sunday with Jack defying his critics to come home 6th and Josh Flemming punching it out for 8th in the 90km Elite Men's field. In the 90km Elite Womens field, Felt riders Noami Williams and Jo Wall smashed the field to finish 1st and 2nd respectively.
For Jack the finish was a continuation of his excellent form in the Mt Beauty 6hr and another feather in his cap. With his well renowned ability to descend and destroy the flat stuff, yesterday's showing is a huge step forward for Jack. Who knows, if he keeps this up he may have to ride the National Series for Felt. In any case it was a great ride by Jack with his personal highlight most likely when he passed the lead motorbike down a descent. How unlike Jack.... Jack in action
Josh, doing it old school on a hardtail RXC Team, did his usual trick of working his way through the field for a strong finish. Afterward, Josh agreed to join the Felt Enduro Team for the upcoming Beechworth 6hr. An excellent replacement for Paul in a riding sense but probably not as loud, crazy or messy. Josh on the RXC Team
For Scott and Mark the ride was a mixed bag. A few issues didn't allow them to push for higher places but at the same time they still managed to finish well and survive the 90km of back breaking riding. Scott in particular, took a wrong turn, broke his chain and had an off in what can only be described as an eventful day for the young fella.
The Elite Women's field was decimated by Felt's Naomi Williams. She had an excellent day after an 'excellent night' and smashed the climbs to not only win by over 20 minutes but actually beat a third of the men's field. Naomi on the charge
Taking out 2nd was Felt's Jo Wall. A newly signed talent, Jo will hopefully feature prominently next summer in the National Series. Where the Olympic distance XC course will suit her aggressive style.
Congratulations to the race organisers, it was a smooth day of racing without a hiccup and the food on offer for the competitors had to be seen to be believed. On a side note, it would be nice to see more competitors next year. It's important to support local events and help promote the sport. So if you're thinking about about challenging yourself and giving a marathon event a go sign up for The Gut Full next year. The atmosphere is relaxed and encourages riders of all levels to get onto the track and have a go.

As most of you would know, Paul is jet setting all over Europe for the upcoming racing season. Unfortunately for avid Felt lovers Paul, as per his Cycling Australia contract will not be racing on a Felt. The good news is that his Australian Team bike will not be ready for at least the next few weeks which means Paul was advised to pack his Felt RXC Team for the trip. So look out for the lanky kid in the results for the European racing season. His first crack at International U/23 riding should be a great learning experience for him and also give his competitors a chance to experience what most in Australia have experienced.... eating his dust (most likely mud over in Europe). Good luck Pauly and don't forget to write.
