Beware of the Bend Devil!
Tonight was the last instalment of the Deluxe dirt crits for the summer, and it had a twist. $100 was put on the line by local MTB identity Bruce Dickey and the race was extended from 30 to 40 minutes.
I was able to get a good start off the line and was first into the single track which is an advantage on the tight and twisty track that is the home of the above mentioned crits. I was able to build a small gap over Russel Collet but wasn't able to extend on it so I had him just over my shoulder for the whole race which made for some very painful racing in the end.
In the end I was able to hold him off for the win to take home the cash and this lovely trophy thanks to the Dickey family.
Once again, thanks to Mallachi for putting on some of the best racing in Melbourne each week, and thanks to all the great people that show up each week to make these races what they are. Bring on next summer.
